3 Nutritional Mistakes You Should Prevent

The industry tries to convince us that certain foods are better than their original version. But this is not always the case. Find out today which nutritional errors you should prevent.

3 nutritional mistakes to prevent

Frequent nutritional errors, which we often make unconsciously,  can damage our health. These are mostly due to clever marketing tricks that lead us to believe that certain products are healthy. Ignorance also makes us resort to foods that should not find a place in a healthy diet.

You should therefore always read the labels of the products carefully to find out about the ingredients. Then we’ll discuss three common nutritional mistakes that you can easily prevent by choosing the right foods.

Diet mistakes to avoid

The choice of food is crucial for our health and body weight. But clever marketing often spreads false information that negatively affects our diet. Three common nutritional mistakes are as follows:

1. Plant milk instead of cow milk

Plant milk is sold as a very healthy replacement for cow milk. That is why many people who suffer from lactose intolerance use it in particular. But not all that glitters is gold. Many plant-based milks contain a lot of sugar and only a small proportion of the ingredients that are actually advertised.

That’s why you get a lot more sugar in plant milk than you would with cow’s milk. You are doing nothing good for the health of your pancreas. With glucose spikes in the blood, you force them to make more insulin. Over time, resistance and type 2 diabetes could develop at an early age.

So if there is no lactose intolerance,  you should prefer cow’s milk. There is also lactose-free cow’s milk for those people who are intolerant.

Another alternative is to look closely at the labels on the plant-based milk and only choose products that do not contain sugar. However, the organoleptic properties of these products are usually worse.

You can of course also make plant milk yourself, then you will know exactly which ingredients it contains.

Commercial plant milk usually contains large amounts of added sugar. It is therefore no healthier than cow’s milk.

2. Sugar has many names

Sugar has emerged as the number 1 enemy in a healthy diet. It should not be forgotten that sugar has many names that we should know and identify. The different names cause confusion and we often think that we are buying healthy products, but they are actually harmful to our well-being.

Honey, maple syrup, panels, and other sweeteners  contain mostly sugar. These products have a very similar effect on the body: the glucose levels in the blood rise and the pancreas is under stress as a result.

Currently, the only solution to prevent this from happening is artificial sweeteners. But these in turn have long-term adverse effects on kidney and liver health. Therefore, a very modest consumption is recommended.

3. Industrially produced baked goods “without added sugar”

These products have very similar organoleptic properties as baked goods with sugar and should theoretically be less harmful to our health.

But sugar isn’t the only enemy. Industrial baked goods  usually contain large amounts of trans fats and are also exposed to high temperatures.

The heating process creates acrylamide, a very harmful substance. In addition, industrially produced baked goods usually contain colorings and preservatives, which can also have a long-term harmful effect on our organism.

For this reason, it is always better  to bake yourself with high-quality ingredients and avoid industrial products.

Industrially made baked goods should be avoided in a healthy diet. Not only do they provide a lot of sugar, but also trans fats, colors and preservatives.

Why do we make these nutritional mistakes?

We often believe that certain products are healthy because they are advertised that way. It is therefore essential to carefully analyze the ingredients on the product description.

It is best to choose fresh, regional foods that you process yourself at home. Make sure to keep sugar and its derivatives within limits.

In addition, you should avoid foods that are fried in hot oil as much as possible in order to reduce acrylamide. This substance can be carcinogenic in the long term.

You should also be very careful with artificial sweeteners. The exact effects these could have on liver and kidney health are not well understood. Therefore, you should use it sparingly.
