Cold Sores – Natural Remedies

In the event of stress or grief, the immune system must be strengthened, otherwise herpes or other complaints can arise.

Cold Sores - Natural Remedies

Cold sores is an infectious disease caused by a virus that causes inflammation. These are lesions of the skin in which small round blisters appear, mostly red and grape-shaped.

Then we explain different triggers for cold sores and how we can heal and prevent through a suitable diet, healing plants and natural remedies.

Find the trigger of cold sores

Those who have cold sores can get these annoying blisters frequently, and other people, even partners, never have blisters.

This fact shows that the  virus is latent in some people and that there are various factors that trigger the vesicles to appear.

The causes include stressful situations or emotional low points. So we have to strengthen our defenses so that the cold sore does not recur.

Beneficial and harmful foods

There are some foods that can cause herpes in some people  . We recommend removing these foods from your diet to see if they are triggers for you.

At the very least, you shouldn’t eat these foods as soon as the first symptoms appear:

  • Dried fruits: almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts
  • coconut
  • Sesame seeds
  • Wheat bran
  • chocolate
  • gelatin

nuts

In contrast, there are  foods that are beneficial for cold sores:

  • Brewer’s yeast
  • Seaweed
  • Potatoes
  • Eggs
  • fish

Strengthen the immune system

Since cold sores are caused by a virus, it is of great importance that we activate our immune system.

This is best done through natural remedies so that the body can improve its resistance for the future. What remedies can we use to strengthen our immune system?

  • Echinacea : This is a medicinal plant that is essential for our immune system. We take it for three months and then we skip one season. Spring and fall are best for ingesting, or when we feel we need the plant.
  • Propolis:  This natural antibiotic works great. When we notice the first symptoms, we take five drops of them until they go away again. We can also occasionally take a drop of propolis, as this also helps us with scar healing. As a prevention against herpes, five drops are taken three times a day with water or juice.
  • Vitamin C : This vitamin is one of the most important additives that we should be taking in order to maintain our health.
  • Trace element zinc:  This trace element prevents the virus from reproducing in the cells.

Essential oils

Essential oils have great potential because they contain a large concentration of therapeutic properties.

In the case of herpes, there are several types that can help us:

  • Ravintsara : We can apply this essential oil directly to the herpes. It is the best aromatherapy product that helps against all types of infections. This is why it is one of the best natural herpes treatment options.
  • Tea tree oil: It is one of the best-known essential oils and also helps with all types of skin diseases. We take a drop of it and then put it directly on the cold sore.
  • Niaouli : This essential oil also helps with herpes and then has a positive effect on wound healing. For a natural ointment, we add a few drops of this essential oil to a natural base product, such as beeswax, vegetable oil (sesame, olive, almond, argan, coconut oil, etc.), aloe vera gel, etc.

We then apply these essential oils several times a day.

Grapefruit seed extract

You can then buy grapefruit seed extract in natural health stores. Various studies have shown that this can inhibit and kill a large number of bacteria, fungi and parasites that can lead to herpes. In addition, the extract contains a large amount of vitamin C.

It is taken either according to the package insert or sporadically if necessary.

We can also use this extract to make our own lip balm. You take five drops of the extract and mix them with fifty drops of glycerine. Apply to the herpes two to three times a day.

Lip care

In addition to these natural remedies, it is important to take care of our lips on a daily basis. We protect our lips from the cold with a nourishing, preferably natural lip balm. We should also protect our lips from the sun with a balm with sunscreen.

Occasionally we can use a gentle scrub. To do this, we mix a little oil with sugar. After that, apply the mixture on the lips and rub gently, wash off and apply a moisturizing balm.
