This diet can help you cleanse your kidneys

Usually we start dieting because we want to lose weight. But there are also diet plans that take other needs into account, such as  cleaning your kidneys  .

These organs are essential for the organism to function optimally.  They are bean-shaped and their size is not proportional to the functions they perform. Eight inches wide and thirteen inches long, they are about the size of a closed fist.

They are located a little above the waist and behind the abdominal cavity. Its main task is to detoxify the organism.  They choose between usable and toxic substances and then remove those that they classify as dangerous.

Since they are such important organs in the body, we take this opportunity to recommend a diet that will help cleanse your kidneys for long-term health.

Functions of the kidneys

Kidneys clean against fluid retention

The kidneys are the primary blood filters. They retain all those substances that the body can use and dispose of through the urine those that the body does not need. There are also other functions that show us how important it is to keep these organs healthy:

  • They filter 1.80 liters of fluid a day.
  • They produce between 1.5 and 2 liters of urine.
  • The kidneys remove toxins.
  • These organs retain useful substances like water, sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, and glucose.
  • They are essential for the synthesis of the hormone erythropoietin. It’s tasked with producing red blood cells.
  • Kidneys take part in the synthesis of renin. This is a hormone that is involved in regulating blood pressure.
  • These organs are involved in the production of vitamin D. This vitamin keeps bones healthy through the production of calcitriol.
  • They are involved in the internal balance of our organism through homeostasis.

So when it comes to a cleansing diet for the kidneys, we first need to know what signals our body gives us when the kidneys are not working properly:

  • Fluid retention
  • Changes in the smell, color, or amount of your urine
  • Pain when urinating
  • Possible bladder infections
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Possible kidney infections
  • General tiredness
  • Itchy skin with eruptions

A diet that can help you cleanse your kidneys

You should cleanse your kidneys at least once a year .  First of all, you should be aware of the foods that you should avoid.

Clean kidneys

Avoid too much salt and foods that leave toxic residues, such as coffee, lentils, nuts, and plums. Also, remove from your diet foods that contain too much purine, as these substances increase uric acid in the body. This includes:

  • Sardines
  • Anchovies
  • Sausages
  • Offal
  • legumes

Also avoid foods high in potassium, as these can be harmful if you have weak or diseased kidneys. So if you’re not sure, avoid spinach, sweet potatoes, oranges, cabbage, and potatoes.

Say no to large amounts of protein  as it takes more effort on the kidneys to process these foods. They can be harmful, especially if they come from animal sources. You don’t have to banish them from your eating plan entirely, you can just enjoy them in smaller portions. Moderate your enjoyment of:

  • flesh
  • poultry
  • Dairy products
  • Eggs

Less sugar

We mention this in a separate paragraph, because you should consume as little sugar as possible. But you must have heard that from the mouths of your parents, grandparents and doctors.

Too much sugar not only leads to diabetes and high cholesterol, but also to complicated kidney problems. The kidneys become weaker from having too much sugar and saturated fats.

What should you be eating to cleanse your kidneys?

The cleaning process takes a few days. Diuretic foods are important here as they help the body remove toxins. For example, you can eat broccoli, artichokes, pineapple, onion, or cress.

You should also drink diuretic teas with this.  Ideal herbal teas contain parsley, anise, dandelion or horsetail. All you have to do is boil a little water and then add the product of your choice. Repeat this for a week, but no longer.

The horsetail is prepared with one liter of water. You can keep it in the freezer and drink it for over two weeks. We assure you that these herbal teas, along with the diuretic foods, are a good combination so that you can cleanse your kidneys.

drink much water

Drink between two and three liters of water a day. Water is the ally of the kidneys as it helps them to work fluently and without much effort. If you eat protein, drink more water. An extra glass or two would be recommended.

Those people who have problems urinating, swelling, or fluid retention should avoid drinking too much water. Make sure to seek advice from a specialist if you want to cleanse your kidneys. It can underpin your decision and diet.
