You should remove make-up residues from your face every day with special cleansing products. This is really very important because make-up residues irritate the skin, lipstick residues dry out the lips and cause them to crack, and washed eyelashes can break off overnight in bed.

No matter what time it is, make-up has to be removed before going to sleep! There are different methods for this: cleaning cloths, damp cotton pads or cleaning foams, gels, oils or milk.

Kajal and eyeshadow can be removed with a special eye make-up remover that is specially tailored to the needs of the sensitive, thin skin around the eyes.

They are available in two basic versions: for waterproof and non-waterproof mascara. Put a few splashes of it on a cotton pad, press briefly on the closed eye and carefully dab off any remaining make-up.

To wash

Make sure that the water is not too hot, just lukewarm. Water that is too hot just dries out the skin unnecessarily. Do not use a normal soap like the one you use to wash your hands, but a special facial soap. This looks like normal soap, but is better adapted to the pH of the skin.

This pH value is 5.5. Normal soap has a pH value above 7. It dries out the skin and neutralizes the protective layer of the skin. For a short time, bacteria and fungi then have an easier time.

There are special bars of soap or special washing gels. The product must be tailored to the sensitive skin of the face, then it does not matter whether it is solid or liquid.

You should exfoliate the skin on your face once a week. Choose a gentle scrub from the drugstore or mix your own with honey and sugar crystals or salt and oil.

Facial toner

Do you need toner? That depends on you and the water you wash your face with. On the one hand, facial tonic removes the very last dirt residue from the pores and, on the other hand, it loosens the lime film that tap water leaves behind.

If the tap water is very hard for you, you should think about using a facial toner. You can find out the water hardness from the water supplier. Not only important to know for your face, it is also useful to know the hardness of the water in your city when it comes to dosage of detergent!

Dry

To dry your face off, you should use a soft towel and gently pat your face dry with it. Make sure the towel is really clean, as having the towel on the sink for a long time can be counterproductive. This is where bacteria can accumulate.

You shouldn’t use your shower towel to dry your face either, but an extra towel just for your face. This will keep it clean and you can be sure that your face cleansing will remain effective until the last step before going to sleep!
